Optimum Motorsport claimed another podium on Saturday with third overall in the fourth round of the MSA Britcar Endurance Championship from Brands Hatch.

George Murrells qualified the GT3 Ginetta third with a time of 46.4 seconds around the twisty 1.21 mile Indy circuit. Murells was just a 1/10th off the Ferrari 430 with pole going to Javier Morcillo in the Mosler with a stunning time of 45.8 seconds.

Lee Mowle started the two hour race and was running in a comfortable third when 45 minutes in to his one hour stint he made contact with the Ferrari 430 of Duyver and Hollings at the apex of Paddock Hill bend sending the Ferrari in to the gravel and the Ginetta in to the pits with a flat front rear tyre and body work damage.

The extended pitstop for repairs cost the team 3 laps on the leader although the stop was used to take on fuel and so by doing limited the overall time lost.

A driver change saw Murrells at the wheel re-joining the race in 15th position. The team pitted Murrells for its second fuel stop under the safety car on lap 72. The rear tyres where also changed at this stop enabling Murrells to set about clawing back the four lap deficit to the leading Mosler.

Whilst the gap closed lap after lap at the two hour mark the Ginetta still trailed the Mosler by just two laps, taking the chequered flag in excellent albeit somewhat eventful third place overall.

The duo are now in second spot in the championship and will be back at Brands Hatch to resume their campaign on the Grand Prix circuit on July 14th.
