Brazilian to race in Ginetta Challenge

Thiago Calvet, the Brazilian racing driver has confirmed that he will once again be making the 10,000 mile round trip to the UK to compete in this years Ginetta Challenge.

Calvet has teamed up once more with Optimum Motorsport to make a serious assault on the Ginetta Challenge Championship.

The Rio de Janiero born 25 year old has been steadily making a name for himself in the UK and has high hopes for 2012.

Shaun Goff, Team Principal at Optimum is excited to confirm Calvet’s return. "We are looking forward to working with Thiago," Goff explained. "He is an exciting racing driver and finished last season strongly with three podiums in both the last four rounds. We expect him to be a fierce contender in the championship in 2012."

David Barker has also signed with Optimum for 2012. New to Ginetta racing last season Barker is delighted to be joining Optimum, who has won the championship for the last two years. Goff said "I am thrilled David has chosen to race with Optimum and very much looking forward to working with him this year."

Optimum Motorsport has a busy year ahead as they shortly take delivery of the 540 bhp Ginetta G55 GT3 which will be racing in the British GT championship as well as contesting the MSA British Endurance Championship (Britcar) in 2012.
