Carrera Cup GB Champion George Gamble joins Optimum to contest the remainder of the 2026 British GT Championship
Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion George Gamble joins Optimum Motorsport to contest the remainder of the 2026 British GT Championship alongside Josh Stanton.
Optimum Motorsport has confirmed a change to its GT4 Silver Cup line-up for the 2026 British GT Championship, with George Gamble joining the Wakefield-based squad to partner fellow Porsche Carrera Cup graduate Josh Stanton in the #59 McLaren Artura GT4.
Following a guest appearance by Mikey Porter last time out at Spa-Francorchamps, Gamble steps into the seat vacated by Luca Hopkinson to contest the remaining three weekends on the British GT 2026 calendar: Snetterton, Donington and Brands Hatch, alongside former Porsche Carrera Cup GB Am Champion, Josh Stanton. Together, the newly-formed Silver Cup pairing are looking to build on Optimum’s GT4 successes in the ultra-competitive GT4 category.
Gamble arrives at Optimum with a wealth of experience, including Ginetta and Porsche’s own one-make championships. Following two championship titles gained during his time campaigning Ginettas, the Nottingham-based driver stepped up to Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain in 2018, claiming wins, podiums and a pole position across his time in the series, before securing the championship title outright in 2024.
Beyond his one-make exploits, Gamble has also tackled the British Touring Car Championship, and SRO Motorsports Group’s European GT4 Series with an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, giving him a broad and versatile skill set as he switches to McLaren machinery for the first time.
"I’m very excited to join Optimum Motorsport for the remaining rounds of British GT. It's a team with a fantastic record in GT4 and I know how much hard work has gone into building that pedigree, so a huge thanks to them for this opportunity. Stepping into the #59 car alongside Josh, who I’ve known for a few years through Carrera Cup, is so exciting. We had a really positive day testing together, and I can't wait to get out there and help him secure the British GT4 Silver Cup title”.- George Gamble, #59 Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4
Gamble and Stanton, along with their #59 Evolution Security-backed McLaren Artura GT4, will be on-track alongside Optimum Motorsport's GT3 trio for Rounds 5 & 6 of the British GT Champinship at Snetterton this weekend.
