NOW HIRING: Experienced Race Engineer

Optimum Motorsport are looking for an experienced and motivated Race Engineer to join our professional GT racing operation, based in Wakefield.

This is a full-time position combining race engineering duties at test and race events with an important role in overseeing and coordinating engineering activities within the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Race engineering a competitive McLaren GT car at test and race events
• Overseeing day-to-day engineering activities within the workshop
• Managing and supporting the activities and development of junior engineers
• Coordinating engineering priorities and ensuring technical work is completed effectively between events
• Reviewing car configuration, setup and data following race and test events
• Ensuring findings from events are translated into appropriate workshop actions
• Supporting vehicle performance, development and test programmes
• Maintaining car specifications, setup records and relevant technical documentation
• Working closely with drivers, engineers and mechanics to maximise car and driver performance
• Helping develop and improve engineering procedures and working practices
  

The Candidate

The successful candidate must at least 5 years of experience within professional motorsport, ideally in GT3 or other high-level motorsport category, together with a strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, race car setup and data analysis.

The role requires someone who is technically capable, organised and proactive, with the confidence to oversee engineering activities and provide guidance to less experienced members of the team.

A basic practical understanding of motorsport wiring and vehicle electronics is also required, including the ability to assist with fault finding and understand common electrical and electronic systems found on modern race cars.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with drivers, engineers, mechanics and management are essential.

The position will involve travel throughout the UK, Europe and internationally during the racing season.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at our workshop in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Salary: Competitive and dependent upon experience.
