As if announcing one car for the teams’ return to British GT wasn’t exciting enough, former title winners, Optimum Motorsport confirm second entry for this year’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship assault with Jack Brown and Charles Clark piloting the all-new McLaren Artura GT4.

A new year brings a new car, not only for Shaun Goff’s outfit but also to the paddock. The teams’ final GT4 campaign came in 2019 with the McLaren where, from this season, the all-new Artura replaces the ultra-successful 570S.

For 2023, Optimum Motorsport are determined to build on their success from previous seasons and are excited to return to the series with a strong two-car multi class line-up.

Brown, who has been present on the British GT grid for the previous two years already has experience in McLaren GT4 machinery, having raced in the 570S for the full season back in 2021 claiming a race win at the series’ international round at Spa-Francorchamps.

“I’m really looking forward to this season, British GT is going from strength to strength and 2023 is shaping up to be the most competitive year yet,” said Brown. “It’s a long season and as always you will need a bit of good fortune to win the championship, but that is our goal, and we will be pushing for wins from the off.

“Optimum’s credentials speak for themselves; they are a top team in every respect. In Charles I know that I have a super-fast teammate and so all of the ingredients are there to have a very competitive and enjoyable season of racing. I can’t wait to get going!”

BRDC Rising Star, Clark, meanwhile, is embarking on his first full season in the Intelligent Money British GT Championship off the back of a strong campaign in the 2022 PorscheSprint Challenge Great Britain, claiming the vice-champion honours.

“Optimum Motorsport are a world class team with lots of titles across the globe," said Clarke. "The new McLaren Artura provides us with an excellent package to compete at the front and we are all super motivated to win and fight for the title.

“Jack’s got great experience and pace in the championship and I’m looking forward to sharing the car with him this year and getting some great results.”

Shaun Goff, Optimum Motorsport Team Principal, added: “The new Artura GT4 is an exciting addition to our fleet. We have two cars across the two different categories this year so we’re all really excited to get out there on track and get racing.”

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship kick-starts on April 8 & 10 at Oulton Park which will host the first two events on this year’s nine-race calendar.
