Optimum Motorsport faced a damage limitation outing this weekend (26-28 May 2017) at the Norfolk facility, scoring 18 vital points as the British GT championship reaches its halfway point.

Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson struggled for pace in the long straights of the Snetterton 300 after a string of podiums, finishing sixth and fifth in the #501 World Motorsport Expo Ginetta G55.

Optimum Motorsport Team Principal, Shaun Goff, said: “This weekend we seemed to be missing around 0.5 seconds per lap. We seemed too have much understeer and no matter what we did we couldn't improve it"

Race 1 - P6

Started from P8 - Success penalty '05s

Graham Jonshon picked up contact on the early stages of the race on the left front. The huge straight line speed difference meant we lost touch with some of the lead cars, which combined with a success penalty from Rockingham to be served during the stop made if fairly difficult for Mike Robinson to make up places.

Race 2 - P5

Started from P7

Mike (Robinson) took the start - loosing places on the straights, we didn't have the best pit stop and we lost a few places. Graham (Johnson) put in some great laps in the second half, pulling back some places, but a late safety car split us from the top four cars. Fifth was the best we could do.

Round 4 of the British GT Championship will take place in June 11 at Silverstone, in the 3.66-mile Grand Prix configuration.
