This weekend (1 - 2 October) will see Inception Racing participate in two races in two continents as the Wakefield-based team look to claim both the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar GTD Michelin Endurance Cup and GT World Challenge Europe Gold Cup Endurance titles within the space of 24 hours.

Heading into each championship’s respective final round at the top of the scoreboards, the crew will split themselves in two, with half heading to Raceway Road Atlanta, and the other to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Sebastian Priaulx and Jordan Pepper will join Brendan Iribe stateside for the 10-hour race, with the latter flying directly to Spain once his double stint of IMSA’s final round is complete. Frederik Schandorff and Ollie Millroy will take on free practice duties in Barcelona with America driver, Iribe, joining the pair once having endured the 9-hour flight across the Atlantic.

A strong debut at this year’s Rolex Daytona 24 Hours saw the team finish IMSA’s opening round of 2022 in fifth place, however having led at the mid-way point, similarly to Sebring 12H two months later, a large points haul means they lead the Endurance Cup by 5 points.

Meanwhile, the inaugural GT World Challenge Europe Gold Cup Endurance title goes down to the wire, with Inception Racing out in front after scoring a second win of the season last time out in Hockenheim. It came in dramatic fashion when a final-lap puncture hobbled the leading Herberth Motorsport Porsche, allowing the #7 McLaren to snatch a crucial win and ultimately, reclaim the lead from Iron Dames.

Ollie Millroy

“It’s a big weekend coming up for Inception Racing. Brendan and I are leading both the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup and the GT World Challenge Endurance series. Unfortunately, it’s physically impossible for me to do both Petit Le Mans and Barcelona this weekend, so I will be heading to Barcelona to try and secure the GT World Challenge Gold Cup Teams’ and Drivers’ titles.

“Brendan is planning to complete his drive time in Road Atlanta on Saturday and then head to Barcelona overnight for qualifying and the three-hour race in Barcelona on Sunday. We’re now also in the lap of the gods with the storm over in America, so we need a bit of good fortune for this place to come together and for Brendan to come away from this weekend with two championship wins!”
