Inception Racing ready to take on final race of 2022
With a plethora of races and three championship titles under their belts this year, Inception Racing has just one more weekend to conclude this season, this time venturing out to the Middle East to the home of F1’s finale, the Yas Marina Circuit.
It’s a familiar setting for the Wakefield-based squad, as last time out around the 5.281km circuit the team secured their Asian Le Mans GT crown back in February of this year, and what a year it’s been since!
A record-breaking 34-car grid (30 GT3 cars) already ensures for a spectacular race come this Sunday (11 December) for the 11th running of the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi.
Ben Barnicoat, having raced earlier on this year in the Gulf 12 Hours when it took place in January, now joins Ollie Millroy and Brendan Iribe in the #7 McLaren 720S GT3 in the Pro-Am class.
This week’s event sees a new-look race format with a continuous 12-hour race being run for the first time in its history, rather than being split into two six-hour parts as has previously been held. Additionally, the Gulf 12 Hours will host one of the most significant GT endurance races to grace the Middle East; the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli (IGTC).
This weekend’s Gulf 12 Hours starts on Friday 9 December with open practice, followed by qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday, which will be live streamed via the series’ YouTube channel.
Ollie Millroy
“I’m super excited to be teaming up with Brendan and Ben for the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi. We have great memories there of winning the Gulf 12 Hours GT4 class in 2019 and the Asian Le Mans Series earlier this year. Let’s finish 2022 in style.”
