Inception Racing ready to take on IMSA’s season opener at Daytona International Speedway
2022 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup GTD Champions, Inception Racing, will look to kick-start this year’s full IMSA WeatherTech season campaign in style with the series’ opening round, The Rolex 24 at Daytona this month.
Preparations for the Rolex 24 At Daytona will launch this weekend with the annual Roar Before the 24, which features three days of practice ahead of Sunday afternoon’s qualifying session which will set the grid for the 61st Rolex 24 At Daytona (13:20PM ET / 18:20PM GMT; flag to flag coverage on IMSA & Peacock TV).
The starting grid for this year’s event will be determined by a traditional 15-minute qualifying format during the Roar Before the 24. For the previous two years the grid for the IMSA season opener was set by the results of a 100-minute qualifying race.
Brendan Iribe, Ollie Millroy and Frederik Schandorff will return to the No. 70 McLaren 720S GT3 GTD cockpit and will be joined by McLaren Factory Driver and proven race-winner, Marvin Kirchhöfer for the 24-hour spectacle.
Last year, the Optimum Motorsport-run squad led at vital stages of the prestigious event to claim all-important points towards their Endurance Cup crown, finishing in a respective fifth place at their Daytona debut.
This year’s GTD grid is set to be the biggest and most competitive yet, boasting the largest field in the WeatherTech Championship with an expected 25 cars from nine different manufacturers.
