Sowing the seeds for the campaign ahead, it was a strong start to the 2021 International GT Open Championship for inception racing, with the two Optimum Motorsport run entries leaving the season-opening rounds at Paul Ricard, first and second in the Pro-Am standings. Heading to Spa-Francorchamps this coming weekend, the British-based squad are naturally seeking more of the same.

inception racing has a great recent track record at the home of the Belgian Grand Prix. Last year, the #7 pairing of Brendan Iribe – Ollie Millroy and the #72 of Nick Moss and Joe Osborne secured a class podium and a race win respectively. That momentum carried into the season finale in Barcelona and subsequently onto the 2021 season at Paul Ricard.

The French venue last month saw Nick and Joe win the opening race of the weekend, from Brendan and Ollie in what was a dominant display at the head of the Pro-Am class. With success penalties applied for the second race, Brendan and Ollie still managed to secure a further second position, enough to give them the series lead heading to a slightly revised Spa-Francorchamps.

The weekend format consists of Friday practice followed by Saturday qualifying and an afternoon race. The format repeats on Sunday for round four of the championship.

Joe Osborne on the challenge of Spa Francorchamps

"It's been a little while since we tested at Spa, but it's always productive. There are also a few changes to the circuit which always makes it interesting!

"There's a bigger kerb on the inside of T3 at the bottom of Eau Rouge now which actually makes the corner harder now, so that could be an issue, especially in race conditions.

“It will be quite interesting to drive the revised track as there’s extended gravel traps around the circuit. Nick is super-pumped, so we're more than ready to go."
