Optimum Motorsport are a leading International GT racing team who specialise in the servicing and operation of McLaren GT3 and GT4 cars. We are currently recruiting enthusiastic professionals to join our team. Roles that we have to offer include: Number 1 Race Mechanic, Number 2 Race Mechanic, Tyre Technician and Truck Driver.

Number 1 Race Mechanic

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Upkeep, maintenance, setup and running of Optimum’s race cars.

- Assembly, service, and operation of the race cars at the workshop and events worldwide consistently to the highest standards.

- Follow engineering and technical procedures during the rebuild and preparation of the car whilst respecting agreed deadlines.

- Engage and efficiently lead a team of mechanics at race and test events promoting teamwork and effective communication.

Skills / experience required:

- Knowledge and ability in all aspects of race car maintenance and repair.

- Sub assembly/ gearbox build knowledge and experience would be advantageous

- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in high level motorsport environment, e.g., F1, WEC, ELMS, DTM, FE, IMSA, BTCC etc.

Number 2 Race Mechanic

This position reports to the Race Team Chief Mechanic and/or their Number 1 Race Mechanic. Responsible for the assembly and servicing of Optimum’s race car both trackside and at the factory in Wakefield, Yorkshire. You will work as part of a team of Mechanics ensuring the car is built in a methodical fashion whilst adhering to strict deadlines.
 
Duties include but are not limited to:

Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
Assisting to ensure ensure that the car is built consistently to the highest standards and meets the relevant set up parameters and all the criteria of the build specification.

Skills / experience required:

Previous experience as a No.2 Mechanic gained within motorsport, ideally working on GT3 and GT4 machinery will be preferred however consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate a sound record of service within the industry.

Tyre Technician

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Overseeing tyre operations, including planning, scheduling and management of tyre & wheel stock.

- Overseeing the fitment, allocation, documentation and correct preparation of tyres at the event.

- Being responsible for tyre related equipment and its maintenance.

- Being the main point of contact for tyre supplies.

The ideal candidate should:

- Have excellent interpersonal, relationship building skills and capable of providing a professional image at all times.

- Have a strong analytical approach and a meticulous attention to detail.

- Have previous experience working in motorsport.

- Ideally would have a HGV licence

Truck Driver

Basic Function: Primarily responsible for the preparation of the race truck on a weekly basis and driving the race car transporter to and from the track, unload/load the transporter. Maintain pit equipment and help set up and pack down equipment at the racetrack.

Required skills / experience:

- Suitable drivers licence.

- Ability to travel including weekends.

The position will be on a full time/contractor basis at Optimum’s workshop in Wakefield (when not away on a race weekend), salary negotiable.
