The Lexus Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio is the fifth event on the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship calendar. Four classes of sports cars - all three prototype and Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) - will take on the challenge of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course from May 13-15.

Jordan Pepper will line-up alongside regular IMSA entrant, Brendan Iribe as Frederik Schandorff heads to Imola to continue his European Le Mans campaign. The South African racer joined Inception Racing for the teams’ debut at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona earlier on this year, narrowly missing out on the GTD win after a brake issue whilst in class leading contention with hours to spare.

IMSA now heads back towards the East Coast following the series’ West Coast swing over the past few weeks with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Monterey SportsCar Championship presented by Motul at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Following a retirement in the latter of the two West Coast races, the team look to bounce back and capitalise on their pace as they head into the weekend fourth in the teams’ standings of the GTD WeatherTech Championship, but ninth in the Sprint Cup rankings.

“Going into Mid-Ohio I’m extremely excited to get back into the McLaren. It will be my first ever IMSA Sprint event, which brings a new challenge as well as our first time at Mid-Ohio for Brendan, the team and myself.

“However, looking at the nature of the track and based on the season so far, Brendan has shown he can be right up there amongst the Silver racers and I feel I will be competitive. Let’s see what the weekend presents, but the goal is simple, we want to be up at the sharp end when it matters.”
