Optimum add trio to huge SuperCup grid
Optimum Motorsport make the long trip down to Brands Hatch this weekend, for the season finale of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup with three drivers all collectively searching for trophies, looking to end their respective individual 2015 campaigns on a high.
The British Touring Car Championship support series will boast its biggest grid in G55 history this weekend, as 26 drivers – including five newcomers –prepare for the final races of the season, which will see both the PRO and AM champions decided. This is the final round, and if history is anything to go by, the championship will almost certainly be decided right here on the last race of the weekend on the iconic Grand Prix circuit.
Wakefield's Optimum Motorsport will field two 'AM' entries for Ade Barwick and Will Moore - both of whom have taken AM class wins and as previously announced, a a third car for newcomer to the PRO class, Mike Robinson, who has previously been seen contesting British GT4 with Optimum alongside Graham Johnston.
Mike Robinson: “Shaun put together a deal for Graham and I to do these races a while ago, so we’re on track until the end of the season. It’s been five years since I was last racing on the TOCA package and I am really looking forward to being out for the final round of the season. I’ve never driven the car in SuperCup spec or on the Michelin tyres, therefore challenging the season-long front runners is going to be incredibly difficult; I will be giving it my all though. Our pace on the Brands Hatch GP circuit in British GT was very good and Graham and I finished second there, so I do have some good experience in the G55 on what is my local track. The main aim however will be to enjoy the racing and have some fun; if I end up on the podium that will be a perfect end to a great 2015’s racing.”
Qualifying gets underway on Saturday at 11:35, with the first of the three races taking place later the same day at 16:20. Sunday morning sees the SuperCup field take to the track first at 10:00 and then the final round of the 2015 season begins mid-afternoon at 15:42. Race day coverage begins at 10:15 on Sunday and will be shown live on ITV4, itv.com in HD.
