Optimum Motorsport aim to bounce back in 12H Red Bull Ring
Optimum Motorsport left Mugello last month disappointed after great promise turned to disappointment after a mechanical issue halted the Ginetta, only for it to be struck by another car.
This coming weekend (7-8 April, 2017) as the Creventic 24H Endurance Series regroups for at the Red Bull Ring for round three of the championship.
Despite the disappointing result in round two at Mugello, Optimum Motorsport are just three points shy of the SP3-GT4 class lead, something the team are confident they can reverse at the Red Bull Ring.
Dan O’Brien, Ade Barwick and Tom Hibbert team up again in the #231 Ginetta G55 GT4 and for Team Principal Shaun Goff, the target is clear – reliable running and the class win.
“The Ginetta took quite a beating in Mugello, but it was fixable so credit to my team for getting it turned around in time for this event. We lost out to our rival in Mugello, but perhaps not as badly as we feared.
“The gap in the championship is small and if we achieve what we expect we should in Austria, then we will be back on track. Obviously, you can’t predict these things – as in Mugello - we really thought we’d be able to pull out our advantage and then issues intervened. But as ever we’ll give it our best shot and we should be there or thereabouts.”
The first part of the 12H Red Bull Ring gets underway on Friday 7 April at 14.15 local time for three hours. The second part of the race starts Saturday at 09.15.
