Optimum Motorsport: A brief history

‍Optimum Motorsport is recognised as the world's top Ginetta team, having notched up British GT4 title successes and high profile endurance race victories during a long-standing and lucrative association with the flourishing British sportscar marque.

Shaun Goff, who has over a decade of experience in motor racing, has been at the helm of the Wakefield-based team since 2012 and seen his outfit to the 2013 and 2016 British GT4 titles and to the top step of the SP3 class podium in the Dubai 24 Hours and Mugello 12 Hours.

However, Optimum Motorsport graduated to GT3-spec machinery for the first time in 2016. It fielded the first new-generation customer Audi R8 LMS in rounds of the British GT Championship and 24H Series, alongside existing Ginetta GT4 and GT5 programmes and one-off outings in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup, and the team impressively finished fourth overall in its first assault on the headlining A6 class in the 2016-running of the Dubai 24 Hours.

‍Cost includes 2016-spec Audi R8 LMS GT3 car and all associated running costs and insurance, plus Optimum Motorsport team support costs (as below)Preparation of car for all events

• 15 sets of tyres

• Oils, lubricants, brake fluids, greases etc

• Racing car and team transportation, all personnel accommodation

• General workshop and business costs

• Supply of all team equipment and personnel vehicles

• Shared villa for relaxing at the circuit and food

• Racing Car component life and management

• Liaison with Audi Sport Racing on all ordering and car issues.

• All costs are subject to final confirmation of 2016 costs

• Drivers are responsible for all accident damage costs below the excess and above the sum insured (sum insured to be confirmed)

• Any drivers’ sponsors racing car livery (paintwork, decals etc) costs are not included in the above

• Drivers' other race equipment costs, travel, accommodation and fines are not included in the above.
