Optimum Motorsport to compete in GT Cup with Holloway and Johnson

Having dipped a metaphorical toe into the GT Cup championship in 2019, Optimum Motorsport is pleased to confirm a season-long programme in the British series with David Holloway and Piers Johnson.

The duo will compete in the seven-round championship in the #15 Aston Martin Vantage GT4, aiming to build on the podium positions gained in the select outings last year. They also competed in the Gulf 12 Hours with the team, recording a highly respectable fifth place finish on their debut.

“It’s great to have David and Piers on board for the season and to build on the races from last season,” stated Team Principal Shaun Goff. “They both know the car and the team, so they will be competitive and are looking forward to a good season of UK racing!”

The two driver are naturally delighted to continue their racing partnership together.  "I’m delighted to back for a full season of GT Cup in 2020,” said Holloway. “We are entering with Optimum Motorsport having run with them at Snetterton and in Abu Dhabi at the end of last year. It is brilliant to back driving with my great mate Piers Johnson in an Aston Martin and we are aiming for the top step this season."

"I’m really excited to be racing with David in an Aston Martin GT4 for the full season of GT Cup,” Johnson added. “We had a little taste of the car and team the end of last year, so we’re looking forward to building on what we’ve learned and fighting for wins.”

The season gets underway at Donington Park in April and concludes with the Snetterton 300 in October.
