Optimum Motorsport, the Wakefield-based Ginetta racing outfit, has announced that Shaun Goff has taken over as Team Principal.

He replaces Ron Linn, who, after 11 years, is stepping down to concentrate on his other business interests.

Optimum Motorsport has a busy year ahead as it continues to contest both the Ginetta Challenge while expanding into endurance racing in both the Britcar and British GT Championship. The team takes delivery of the 540 bhp Ginetta G55 GT3 in February and has a comprehensive testing programme planned ahead of its British GT debut in April.

On taking up his new role, Goff said, "I’d like to thank Ron for all his support and hard work. His contribution to Optimum Motorsport has helped us reach the fantastic position we are in today. We look forward to building on this in 2012 with the British GT championship and Britcar in the new G55 GT3 – and our defence of the Ginetta Challenge championship which we’ve won three years in a row."

Linn added, "After the recent investment in the business and track successes, the future for Optimum Motorsport is very bright. And with Shaun having just managed the team to an exceptional performance winning the GT4 class at the Dubai 24 Hours race, now is the right time for him to take the business forward. I remain one of Optimum Motorsport’s biggest fans and will be a regular in the paddock, supporting the team at most race weekends."
