The Silver-Silver pairing of Ollie Wilkinson and Bradley Ellis have enjoyed a superb start to the British GT Championship with Optimum Motorsport in the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and are currently fourth in the overall standings. The duo also lead the Silver Cup, heading to Snetterton this coming weekend for the double-header.

With additional ballast courtesy of running two FIA graded Silver drivers, the third and sixth positions in the opening races of the season was especially significant.

While the GT3 team had a good outing at Oulton Park, it was a harder weekend for the two new GT4 parings but at the end of the weekend Connor O’Brien and Jack Butel got their new partnership off to a strong start with a pair of sixth placed finishes in the #35 Aston Martin Vantage GT4, while teammates Patrik Matthiesen and Mike Robinson secured an 11th and fifth in the two rounds.

Bas Leinders, Team Manager

“Oulton Park was a good start for our GT3 with a podium in the first race, although it was not the best track for the Aston Martin. The team and drivers managed a faultless race that gave us the podium, so we hope to be more competitive at Snetterton. We have done a good few days of testing and were able to improve the car’s set-up.

“The GT4 scenario was a bit more complicated at Oulton Park but we managed to limit the damage by scoring some points, we will have to be better in Snetterton as our aim is to go for the GT4 title. We also managed to progress on our GT4 testing programme, but the field is so tight that every improvement and mistake will have a big impact.”

Ollie Wilkinson, #96 GT3

"We opened our debut British GT season with a fantastic team effort at Oulton Park. It was amazing to take our first outright podium and two Silver Cup wins; those results came down to a faultless performance from everyone. We’re making positive progress every time we’re on-track in the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and we’re all working together to get the most out of ourselves with the aim of taking more British GT podiums."

Bradley Ellis, #96 GT3

“I’m excited for Snetterton after a good weekend at Oulton Park. I am hoping we can reproduce the strong performance we had to pick up some more points.”

Mike Robinson, #75 GT4

“Oulton Park was a tough weekend. We knew we’d be up against it, but we’ve found an issue with the car’s performance that hindered us there. Now we’re very much looking forward to Snetterton where hopefully we’ll be in a position to challenge for class and overall podiums and race wins.”
