The Wakefield-based outfit will venture out to the Middle East in the latter stages of this year with a two-car entry into Intercontinental GT Challenge’s season finale, Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.

The teams’ newest addition to their fleet, the #4 McLaren GT3 which has recently run in the final round of GT Open and the FIA Motorsport Games, has also had its entry confirmed for the IGTC 2022 season finale in Abu Dhabi alongside Optimum Motorsport-run Inception Racing.

The Gulf 12 Hours is an annual endurance race event for GT cars that takes place at the Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates, where it’s been held since its inauguration in January 2012.

The format switches the race focus from reliability to strategy and pace: drivers can chase the win pushing their cars to the outright limit, the best premise for an exciting race. In pure endurance fashion, the event embraces both day and night racing with floodlights complementing the spectacular Yas Marina Circuit setting.

With over eight hours of testing and practice before the Saturday evening’s qualifying, whereby each of the four drivers contest in a 15-minutes session each with the average time determining the starting grid order, there’s plenty of track running to get accustomed with the 5.554km-long circuit before lights out 10am EST on Sunday 11 December.

The team are no strangers to the track, with Inception Racing claiming their 2022 Asian Le Mans GT Championship there earlier on this year with Optimum Motorsport placing fourth, respectively.

There’s plenty of time to unwind between sessions as we’re able to offer hospitality and catering in the circuit’s luxury villas that overlook both the track and the Marina itself.

With Inception Racing’s line-up confirmed which to is ti be announced in due course and seat availability the teams’ other entry, interested parties should contact Shaun Goff via email: sgoff@optimum-motorsport.com for more information. Shaun Goff, Optimum Motorsport Team Principal, “It’s great that we’ve got the two entries confirmed for Gulf 12 Hours. We’ve had great success at Yas Marina Circuit across the years, more recently earlier on in the season where the team claimed their Asian Le Mans title.

“We’ve seat availability in our second car entry, my new McLaren 720S. It’s had time out on-track in Europe, competing in GT Open and the FIA Motorsport Games and now we’re looking to complete the driver line-up for it to have it’s first taste out on-track in the Middle East.”
