While Optimum Motorsport is battling for championship honours in British GT, the team are also seeking further success in the International GT Open championship this weekend at Monza.

The last round at Silverstone saw Ollie Wilkinson and Bradley Ellis claim victory in the #96 Audi R8 LMS, followed by a strong recovery to fourth position in the second race. Having tested at the Italian venue during the summer break, the team are confident of another strong showing.

The Silverstone victory, their second of the season, moved the pairing fourth in the Pro-Am standings on 38 points with four rounds remaining.

While the championship has never been the target in what is Ollie’s rookie season in GT3 equipment, the team are still pushing for further podiums and victories.

Shaun Goff, Team Principal

“We’re looking forward to Monza, the boys both enjoy the circuit and its one we have prepared well for. We would like another weekend like Silverstone – that would do us no harm in the championship standings – although we’re really trying not to get drawn into that. It’s about being competitive and all about Ollie’s learning year.”

Bradley Ellis

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend, especially after such a good weekend at Silverstone. The Audi should be good at Monza as it is very low in drag and very efficient in braking, two areas that are important at that style of track. Also, Ollie drove really well in the test there and considering it was his first time at the track, his lap times were very strong.”
